The Lesnes Abbey Estate Research Group has been formed to provide a better understanding of Lesnes Abbey and its Estate through archaeological fieldwork, surveys, historical research and publication of the findings.

Over the last 20 years I have carried out archaeological research projects across the London Borough of Bexley and other parts of Kent, some of which are situated across land once owned or leased to medieval Lesnes Abbey.

Some of this work has provided new archaeological information regarding the origin, development and decline of the Lesnes Abbey Estate during Prehistoric, Roman, medieval and post-medieval times.

From the research work we aim to promote and increase archaeological knowledge of the Lesnes Abbey Estate by giving talks, lectures and producing a series of research papers, articles and other publications regarding the abbey and its estate lands.

Below are located a number of articles, notes, photographs and other information concerning some of the research work we are carrying out across the Lesnes Abbey Estate Project. Over the coming months this site will be regularly updated with new articles, notes and other information regarding archaeology, history, artefacts, building material and other research.

So please watch this space.
